This course is suitable for students in the middle or later years of vocational school who are interested in working in the field of Leisure and Tourism.
There are two main strands of activities within this course. The first focuses on the different types of job available within the leisure and tourism sector. Students are encouraged to talk about their past experiences and future plans. They then undertake a series of tasks related to exploring what various jobs within the industry might entail, and use this information to write job advertisements and application letters. On the basis of these, learners go on to participate in job interview simulations.
The second strand is a series of lessons focusing on holidays and travel. During these lessons, learners build a range of vocabulary and skills that will allow them to talk with confidence about diverse holiday types, destinations, facilities and accommodation. From this, they work towards giving short presentations on popular tourist destinations.
The course includes many and varied opportunities for communicative language practice in English, and will give a great boost in confidence to students who are planning to become involved in a sector in which English is the language of choice.
