Teenagers in Class 2

Focus and Suitability

Click on the boxes below to see our Secondary Courses in detail

The Waystage course is for students in their early or middle years of secondary education who are starting to learn a more extended range of vocabulary and structures. They are likely to have been learning English for a year or more and will be given the chance to explore how their increased knowledge can be applied. With this in mind, the course focuses on the practical communication of English and how it can be developed as an important skill for their future.

At this stage of their learning, students are starting to move beyond naming common objects and actions and the world of their immediate environment. They will be starting, for example, to compare things, to talk about routines and to describe events that have happened in the past.

During the course, students will use English to communicate in a broader range of contexts, about a wider range of topics. Incorporating many exciting activities, learners will use their increased knowledge and skills to communicate with their teacher and fellow-students, becoming more self-assured in their ability to exchange information and ideas in English.

The course is a wonderful opportunity for learners to realise that, as their language develops, they are able to understand more and communicate with much greater ease.
